STB078 | BSE | Galatians 4.1-31: Law (Hagar/Israel) v Promise (Sarah/Jesus)

BIBLE SCHOOL EDITION — Nathan shoots the breeze with Pastor Scott Frerking about Galatians 4.1-31. They discuss how the Law is immature and will (in 70 AD) melt away because the mature (Jesus) has come. They also discuss Paul’s analogies of the Law (Hagar) and the Promise (Sarah).

APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Considering that the Law was fulfilled in Jesus, along with the real destruction of its practices and rituals during the destruction of Jerusalem, why do we often read Scripture as a Law book for living (a list of dos and don’ts)? What concerns are there if we stopped looking at Scripture as a behavior manual and salvation as behavior modification?

ACTIVATION STEPS
What creative or new way might you try this week to connect with God that doesn’t involve a “study” of Scriptures?
