COMMUNION

Communion (The Lord's Supper, The Eucharist) is an outward, visible sign of our remembrance and trust in Jesus' selfless death on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, failures, and mistakes. It is a sacred opportunity we give the Holy Spirit to convince us of our Heavenly Father's care, support, kindness, and provision..

1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26
— The Passion Translation —

I have handed down to you what came to me by direct revelation from the Lord himself. The same night in which he was handed over, he took bread and gave thanks. Then he distributed it to the disciples and said, “Take it and eat your fill. It is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” He did the same with the cup of wine after supper and said, “This cup seals the new covenant with my blood. Drink it—and whenever you drink this, do it to remember me.” Whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are retelling the story, proclaiming our Lord’s death until he comes.

Communion is:

  • Remembering Jesus' sacrifice for us no matter what we've chosen to do, say, or think. (Matthew 26:27-28; Hebrews 2:17)
  • Agreeing with and trusting Jesus in the circumstances and relationships we find ourselves. (Romans 6:15-23)
  • An opportunity to seek the face of Jesus and receive his truth or reality for our questions. (1 Corinthians 11:27-32)
  • Uniting us with the faith of our Christian community for areas of doubt with which we struggle. (1 Corinthians 11:17-22)
