1-Minute Reflection: Am I Ready to Change?

I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit waiting until I felt ready to make changes I already knew were necessary. Sometimes I wanted more clarity. Other times, I was waiting for the confidence, motivation, or peace I thought would make the next step easier.

But I’ve learned that feeling ready and being willing are two very different things.

Sometimes growth means having an uncomfortable conversation while I’m still nervous. Setting a healthy boundary while I’m afraid of disappointing someone. Acknowledging pain before I understand what healing might look like. Or taking responsibility for my choices without knowing how someone else will respond.

None of those things necessarily feels comfortable, even when I know they’re important.

And I’ve discovered that waiting until the discomfort disappears can become another way of avoiding what needs my attention.

Growth doesn’t always begin with confidence or clarity. Sometimes those things develop as we begin moving forward.

I’ve been learning to ask myself: Am I genuinely seeking God’s direction amidst unfamiliarity, or am I using my discomfort as a reason to avoid taking a step I already know I need to take?

With hope,
Nathan
