1-Minute Reflection: Does Everything Have to Be Perfect?

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make every part of my garden beautiful. I had a picture in my mind of how everything should look, and I was determined to make it happen.

But there was this one stubborn corner that refused to cooperate.

No matter how much attention I gave it, something always seemed out of place. And for the longest time, I interpreted that imperfection as a reflection of my own failure.

Then I started wondering if I was looking at it all wrong.

What if that corner wasn’t something I needed to fix? What if it was an invitation to recognize that beauty doesn’t always require perfection?

I’ve been discovering that life can be a lot like gardening. Sometimes we genuinely need to put in the work, make adjustments, and cultivate healthier things. But other times, our constant efforts to make everything just right can keep us from appreciating what’s already growing.

And perhaps some of life’s most uncomfortable seasons aren’t asking us to work harder, but to receive God’s grace.

God has been inviting me to ask: Am I trying to fix something that genuinely needs my attention, or am I struggling to accept something simply because it isn’t what I imagined?

With love and hope,
Lacey
